Putting The D300s To The Test

We all no that they say the Nikon D300s is a pretty fast camera, So I decided to put it to the test.
I sat down and thought what could I shoot that would be a challenge but at the same time creative and different, then all of a sudden it clicked, wine in a wine glass, now I now what your probably thinking, "how easy" but remember I said that I wanted it creative and different.

The kind of shot I wanted was the wine splashing out of the glass like it had been hit by a force. So I decided to make a little cart that I could place the wine glass on and push at something so when the cart hit it it would stop it would send the whine splashing out of the glass. I didn't want to use real whine because it would've been a waste so I mixed red and blue food colouring with water to make it dark red like wine (trust me it works).

So now it was time to shoot. I placed a white background at the back of the glass so it would enhance the whole splashing effect, then put the camera (D300s) with mounted flash (SB-900) on a tripod and framed the picture.

When I was ready I got some one to push the cart with the wine glass strapped to it while I took the photographs.

Now the key thing with this type of photograph is you need to take heaps of shots to get the right shot.

So in the end Im convinced that the D300s is pretty fast.

and here are a few more shots.
